First-time poker players must know which cards are better or worse. Here's a rundown of the possible winning combinations in a Poker game.

The Royal Flush is the best card combination in a game of Poker. There is no possible card combination that can beat this except if the other player has the same of a different suit, it's a tie. Royal flush is achieved by having the highest five consecutive cards of the same group. For instance, having the Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace of Clubs.

The Straight Flush is the second best. In Poker, one must still have five consecutive cards of the same group like having six, seven, eight, nine and ten of Diamonds.

Poker also has Four of a kind. This is achieved by having the tens from aces, hearts, diamonds and clubs or any other same card value from different suits. In Poker, the higher the number of the card, the higher the value.

Next among the Poker card combinations is the Full House. This is achieved by having 3 same characters from different suits and 2 same characters from other suits. Example is having three Jacks and two Queens.

We also have the Flush in Poker. This is achieved by having cards of the same suit but of different orders. Example of this is having a King, Jack, eight, seven and three all from Hearts.

The straight in Poker is much like the straight in other card games. This is achieved by having 5 cards consecutively but of different suits.

A player in Poker achieves Three of a kind if he has three cards of the same value.

A two pair in Poker is when a player has two pair of cards that are the same like having the tens of club and heart and the sevens of club and diamond.

A pair in Poker is two cards of the same value like having the fives of diamonds and hearts.

A high card in poker is when the player has the highest card compared to other opponents like having the Ten of hearts and none of your opponent has Jack, Queen, King or Ace.
