How to behave in a poker game

How to behave well in poker:

You should always act in turn. This means that you either check, call, raise or fold when it is your turn. In poker, this is important. You do not want to give away what you are doing next because you will help others decide. Some poker players may even deliberately act not in their turn just to intimidate. This is improper in any poker game. This can easily be avoided. After all, how hard is it to wait?

However, in online poker, you can act even before your turn because other player would not see your action until it is your turn. You can do this by clicking on the action buttons found in the poker table during your opponents' turn.

Keep your comments to yourself while the game is still at play, however much good you think they are. It doesn't matter whether you have already folded or not, just be quiet. Poker players are not judged by how much they can talk, it is by how well they play.

Keep your poker chips in a neatly order. However much you like the idea to appear nasty, throwing your ships to the pot is never a good idea. Make it easier for everybody, and pile your poker chips in an orderly manner. Especially when there are a lot of players at the poker table, nicely stacked chips help monitor how much has been bet.

Do not coach others; poker is not a basketball game. When it is your turn, nobody should give you advice, and you shouldn't give others advices either. This still holds true even if you think you're a brilliant poker player. For how can you be brilliant if you couldn't follow simple poker etiquette? Let other players learn from their mistakes, and let them win on their own. This is to avoid the possibility of you taking credit for other poker player's winnings. Besides, are you sure that they want your advice? Even if so, it is unfair for the other players who you do not teach. It gets harder to read if the play would come from you or from the one you helped.

A good poker player pays attention to the game. If you cannot give your full attention to the poker table, then leave. It is irritating for other poker players when someone always asks if it is their turn yet, or what is happening in the table. If you do this, might as well divide your poker chips among them. You are not ready to enter the poker world.
